FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, gently answered

The things parents ask most often, answered with the same calm honesty I'd offer over a cup of tea.

  • I don't believe in a 'one-size-fits-all' approach because every family and every baby is completely unique. While I am trained in evidence-based techniques my focus is always on finding a pace that feels comfortable for you and your little one. We look at the whole picture, routine, environment, and temperament to create a plan that is gentle, sustainable, and effective.

  • Yes, absolutely. The physical and emotional safety of your baby is my number one priority. I strictly adhere to recognized safe sleep guidelines, and the methods I use are gentle, responsive, and grounded in evidence-based research. My approach isn't about leaving your baby without support; it is about teaching them healthy, restorative sleep habits while you are right there to comfort and guide them. When done thoughtfully and professionally, sleep coaching is entirely safe and incredibly beneficial for your baby's development and your family's overall wellbeing.

  • Frequent wakes can be exhausting, and there is usually a combination of factors at play. One of the biggest culprits is sleep pressure. If their daytime sleep isn't quite balanced, they may not have enough sleep drive built up to stay asleep, or they might be overtired. It can also be tied to developmental milestones or what they currently rely on to settle. As a certified sleep consultant, I take a step back to look at the full picture of your little one's routine to find the root cause, helping us gently encourage longer, more restorative stretches.

  • Safety and child development are the foundation of my practice. To ensure the highest standard of care, I completed my sleep certification through Baby Sleep Consultant Training (New Zealand), a provider officially approved by the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT). This incredibly comprehensive program is taught by a multidisciplinary team of paediatricians, psychologists, nurses and lactation consultants, ensuring my education was rigorously assessed to meet strict professional industry benchmarks.

My expertise is built on a strong foundation:

    • CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education
    • Over 15 years of hands-on, global experience as a career nanny
    • Positive Parenting Coach qualification

My methodology at Kiddywinks Nurture relies exclusively on gentle, responsive coaching and evidence-based safe sleep practices. Beyond sleep, I am also a qualified parenting coach. This means I don't just look at sleep in isolation; I look at the whole picture to support your family safely and compassionately through the many milestones and transitions of early childhood.

I understand the importance for parents to vet the professionals they work with, and I will never recommend a technique that compromises your child's safety or contradicts established medical guidelines.

  • Please don't worry, decision fatigue is so real, especially when you are sleep-deprived! The best place to start is simply by booking a free discovery call. We can have a quick, no-obligation chat about what is currently going on with your little one's sleep and what your family's goals are. From there, we can discuss what suits you best. Whether you just need some gentle guidance over the phone or you are looking for comprehensive, hands-on support like a 7-night in-home package, I will honestly recommend the best option for your family. There is absolutely no pressure to know exactly what you need right now; that is what I am here for!

  • It is a reality of childhood. Little ones catch bugs! If your baby becomes unwell while we are working together, their health and comfort instantly become the absolute priority. Because sleep coaching requires a healthy, comfortable child to be successful, we will simply hit 'pause' on your package. We will take a break so you can focus entirely on cuddles and recovery without any added pressure. Once they are fully better and back to their usual selves, we will pick right back up where we left off. You won't lose any of your support time; we just shift the timeline.
